‘Give a little time, make a big difference.’
Just a couple of hours a week doing something with a disabled young person as simple as shopping, cooking or playing pool can make a dramatic difference to their life and yours. You don’t need any previous experience. It is important to us that you are linked with a young person that you are happy to spend time with. We provide training and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your volunteering role. We will also pay your travel expenses.
Our volunteers come in all shapes and sizes. Our youngest volunteer is 18 and the oldest is 80. You do not need previous experience so if you have a positive attitude, are enthusiastic and think you could be a good role model then we want to hear from you!
Email us or click on the Contact Us button at the top of the page for more information. Or alternatively download the information and application form below. The Co-Ordinator from the Area you live in will contact you to discuss making your application.
We are part of Safer Recruitment as you will work with Children and Young People. We take up 2 references including an employer’s reference (or educational reference if you have not worked or similar). The second reference would be from someone who has known you 5 years or more.
Once we have taken references, the co-ordinator will arrange a mutually convenient appointment to do an enhanced DBS check and hold an informal interview with you.
Once you have done this, we will arrange a suitable training date, a training venue as close as possible to your area. This training covers all aspects of what is involved, as well as safeguarding, part of the training requirements for a Time2Share befriender.
We accept people of all backgrounds and ages, and if you would like any support and assistance during this process, our co-ordinators are there to help you with anything.
